For Micah's Birthday my sister Michelle gave Micah this awesome castle construction kit. Over the weekend Allwyn and Micah put it together then Sunday Micah painted it. It turned out great and makes a nice home for some of his animals. Thanks auntie Michelle!

Christmas Eve 2011, we went to Morrisons house then came home for some baking and Family pj's. Micah had fun baking cookies for santa and Josiah enjoyed playing with his toys from his aunts and uncles. This years family pjs i made. They turned out super cute and everyone enjoyed.

Our Big Move

Here are some pictures of the boys among the boxs. They had a lot of fun playing with all the boxes and building with them. They enjoyed decorating as well. Josiah enjoyed eating a marker too. This picture was taken right after we moved in and i had just come home from the doctors (Noah hadn't arrived yet) I guess Allwyn forgot to feed him lunch.

Okay so i know i'm super behind but better late than never. Micah had his first school Christmas program and it was so fun to watch. We didnt have very good seats (the teacher told us the wrong spot to sit) but we were sitting by where they exited. I only got a couple pictures but will have the memory in my heart forever. I love what i see when i look in my rear view mirror. I can see all 3 of my boys, Micah to my right Noah behind me (i can see him in his little mirror) and Josiah in the center in the back seat. I was a little sad at first when i had to move Josiah to the back seat (so was he) but he's such a big boy and is loving it now. Micah thought about moving to the back seat with Josiah but he later decided that he needed to be next to Noah just in case he needs something. Hopefully I'll get a picture of that to post soon :) i have a lot of picture taking and loading onto the computer to do. Enjoy your day!

First Day....

Today was my first day home with all 3 boys. Allwyn returned to work, i have to be honest i was a little nervous about what the day would be like but let me just say it went well. This may have been because Micah went to school from 8:30 until 1 but, i did make it out of the house today with 2 little ones :) Allwyn got up with Micah and gave him breakfast and dressed him (when he came in to say goodbye i was sure that Micah must have picked out his clothing but he said daddy did) Josiah woke before they left but enjoyed some tv/snuggle time with mommy and Noah before we went down stairs. I've needed to go to the grocery store and sams club for a few days now and decided today was the day. So, Josiah (now sitting in the back seat, just like a big boy) Noah and i started to get ready. I set a goal to leave around 9. We did pretty good because when i looked at the clock as i pulled out it was 9:15. Josiah was such a big boy in the store he helped me put things into the cart and even enjoyed some cheez-its. We then ventured off to sams club. Both the boys did great there too. Noah slept and Josiah helped me find everything on our list. (even a few things we didn't need, just don't tell dad) We then came home so i could feed Noah and so Josiah could have some play time.
When we picked Micah up the picture that we sent for him to share with his class was hanging in the hall. He was very proud of 'his' baby and was showing him off to everyone. The boys both headed up to nap around 2 and were back up around 3:30. We then played until daddy came home. I have to be honest it wasn't that bad being home with 3 boys 4 and under :)
I feel so blessed to have these boy and call them mine.

Noah and Family updates...

Noah and i arrived home the 31st and the boys were excited to see us. Micah is adjusting Great and loved to help me with the baby. Josiah likes to point at the baby, he also enjoys sitting with me while i feed the baby. The boys are great Big brothers.
Noah visited the doctor today for his first visit. He left the hospital at 5lb 6oz and is up to 5lb 9oz. Doc says hes doing great which helps put me at ease. We're working on his sleep schedule, but all and all hes doing great with sleep too. When i asked Micah what his new brother likes to do he said 'Um, pee, poop and drink milk.' Micah's such a sweet guy with Noah.
I also visited the doctor. I'm happy to say that i was given a clean bill of health when it comes to my bladder. Ha, i never thought i would be saying that. What i failed to mention about my c-section with Noah was that it wasn't event free. During the procedure the doctor nicked my bladder which caused for a little extra table time. The doctor repaired the bladder then but, this procedure required me to go home with a catheter. This was not fun, but i'm happy to say that everything went well and I'm free of my little friend.
I know i need to post more pictures of my boys and the house but as you can imagine things have been crazy but i promise soon.

Noah Allwyn Satvedi

Noah Allwyn Satvedi, 5lb 11 oz and 19 inches long joined our family on Tuesday December 27th, 2011. I feel so blessed when i look at his little face to call him mine. He is just so sweet! Micah and Josiah havent been to visit just yet but hopefully Thursday.
Noah decided to join us a little unexpected, but then again do any of my kids follow the rules? Nope! I've been seeing the high risk specialist the past few weeks as well as my regular OB and during my NSTs I'd been having regular contraction but nothing to cause anyone concern. But when i went on Tuesday the nurse asked when i was checked last and joked i wouldn't make it till Friday the 30th my scheduled c-section date. I went home and continued to have contracting but worked through them even made a store run. I had never been in labor before and didn't want to over react. Then after dinner around bed time the pain was getting worse and the contractions were coming more frequent (though i couldn't keep track because i was getting the boys ready for bed) I then prayed as the boys played in the tub that God would give me another sign. Well, he did just that a few minutes after i took Micah out. My mucus plug fell out so i called the doc. They sent me to the hospital answering service who said they wanted me to come in. i didn't want to over react or so i told them my contractions were closer to 12 minutes apart. She said due to low baby movement and my history to come in. Thank goodness Katie was home from college because we put the boys to bed and she stayed with them. We arrived and they started to monitor me and well my contractions weren't 12 minutes apart but 2 to 5. Ha i was in labor something i hadn't ever made it to before. They called my doc and he said he was heading over to perform the c-section due to active labor. I was in shock, i was about to meet my 3rd son. So at 11:45 i heard my 3rd son cry for the 1st time which made me cry to. I feel so blessed to have 4 amazing me in my life. I owe it all to the Lord for sending Allwyn into my life. I LOVE my men!

New House and Updates

I can officially say we are in our new house, we are now Naperville residents. Last Wednesday the movers came packed everything up and drove it over. The house isn't fully put together but things are coming along. The boys have done great with the transition. They love their new rooms and Micah loves 'his' bathroom.

Allwyn wanted to get us in the house before the babies arrival and he successfully did. Baby S is hanging in there but not trouble free. I've been busy with lots of doctor appointments and just preparing for our newest mans arrival. He'll be here soon and i'll update as soon as i know more. Micah told me the other day that hes ready to be a BIG brother to 2 boys. He is such a sweet boy.

I'll post pictures of the boys and house soon, things have just been super crazy!

Past few Weeks

The past few weeks have been crazy and gone SO fast! We made our last trip to the zoo as a family of 4 a few weeks ago. The day was perfect and Micah was so excited to spend the day at the zoo.

We've also been busy preparing for not one but two big changes coming to our family. First we've been unpacking and washing tiny little blue onesies and setting up a bassinet as we wait on our 3rd little blessing. I visited the doctor almost two weeks ago and she put me on modified bed rest. In her words this means me being real lazy and letting others wait on me. Ha, i just laughed because that doesn't happen in my life. Allwyn defiantly helps out but he isn't here all the time. This has been hard on me because i can't do some of the things i love. Like... working out. At first i thought it would be great because i would have a reason not to workout but i have realized i enjoy it, it helps release some stress. So, now we're just waiting not knowing when this boy will come, hopefully he'll wait until his scheduled c-section date.
Second, we're busy (or Allwyn is) packing up our home for our move. Yes, it's official we're moving. When we don't know since we don't know the babies plan but we do have keys and are busy getting the house ready for our boys.

Other Happenings:
I had the joy of going to my college friend Rebecca's baby shower. It was so nice to celebrate her and her sweet boy Griffin who will be joining their family in Feb.

I made these burp rags for Griffin, I'd seen them made before and always wanted to try and here they are. I must say i think they turned out pretty cute. Now i just need to find some time to make some for my own little boy.

Monkey Bizness

Today was a cold windy day so we decided to head out to one of our indoor play places, Monkey Bizness. The boys just love it! I pack a lunch and we spend a few hours there playing. Here are some pictures from our morning.

Our pumpkins... Micah enjoyed drawing on the pumpkins for daddy to carve. The cat was a special request of Micahs.

*When i asked Micah months ago what he wanted to be he had one request and wasn't going to budge. I started my search for a costume and came up with nothing not even an idea on how to make a cheese costume. So, after some brain storming this is what we came up with. I wanted something he could wear to school and remove easily and wear over his coat. And the mouse well it only seemed appropriate while i could still choose the costume, that is what Josiah would be. I wore cat ears to keep with theme. The cat chases the mouse (oh yes i do) and the mouse chases the cheese (AND oh yes he does).

This morning Micah was excited to put his cheese costume on and head off to school. After drop off the kids had a parade around the play ground for all the parents to get pictures. Enjoy!

Today i had the pleasure of joining Micah's class for their Halloween party. Myself and 2 other moms put together a snack (worms in dirt) a game (toss the ghost into the pumpkin) and a craft (canvas trick or treat bags)

Micah's birthday fell on and Thursday so i got to spend the whole day with him :). We started our morning at dunkin donuts with daddy and Josiah. The boys enjoyed frosting and sprinkle donuts! When i asked Micah what he wanted to do for his birthday he said bake cookies. So, that's just what we did. Daddy then brought home Micah's favorite Chipotle.

On the 28th Allwyn and i went to Micah's school to celebrate with his class. We brought cupcakes and cheese (yes cheese Micah's favorite) Then Allwyn read a book to the class. Micah decided he wanted his daddy to read. It was very sweet. I'm so blessed with a great husband!

Micah turned 4 on the 27th. I can't believe how much he has grown, and how fast its gone! Micah choose to have a safari party and you know that means me going all out for my boy. Swimming Lessons

I'm so proud of my Micah. He started swimming lessons all by himself. He's so big, he didn't even cry. (i cried my eyes out as a child and got blisters on my hands from holding onto the wall). I had my camera and took loads of pictures but will share just a few of my favorites.

I decided to take the boys to the zoo, just me and the boys (the littles). It was one of the best days. I let Micah be the tour guide, which he loved and we just enjoyed ourselves. Micah even worked a visit to the ice cream shop in :)

Micah's 1st day of Preschool

On Tuesday, September 6th Micah started Preschool. We had gone a little over a week before to meet his new teacher and check out his classroom. He was super excited and so was i. I was a little sad to if I'm being honest. My baby has grown so much is such a short time. He truly is amazing.Here are a few of the pictures from his big day.

We added lots of animal buttons to his bag to make it extra special.

Micah's teachers are Ms. Karen and Ms. Patti, well as of the 7th they were. When i signed Micah up he was in the 2 day extended program (Ms. Joey and Ms. Patti) but when i picked him up on Tuesday they told me they had an opening in the 3 day extended. I then had to decide weather to move him or not. The lead teacher was different but the assistant Ms. Patti was the same as well as the room. It was a hard decision because i really liked Ms. Joey but i knew 3 days would be so great for Micah especially with the baby coming. With that being said i made these 1st week of school survival kits. Band-aids, stickers, lots of stickers, chocolate, sugar, markers and lots of other fun stuff. (one of my students once gave me something similar and it made it that much easier)

Afternoon at the Circus

Yesterday afternoon we had the joy of taking the boys to the circus. Every year the Carson and Barnes circus comes to Mooseheart which is a modern orphanage. They are a great organization and the proceeds went to the children. Boy the boys really enjoyed themselves but Micah had an amazing time. (i know, i know i don't like the way the animals are treated but i enjoyed the circus as a child and wanted my boys to have the same memories) During intermission Micah enjoyed a elephant ride, Camel and pony ride. He was so brave, he did it all by himself. When i was waiting in line with him i was telling him how he was going to have to go by himself and he said, 'i know mom, you don't have to tell me.' Then when he climbed down he said 'mom that was so much fun.' i was just so proud that he did it. I can't believe how much my boy has grown. Here are some pictures from our afternoon.

We celebrated Allwyns birthday last week. I let Micah pick out the perfect cake for him. I love them, my boys. They challenge me, love me and call me mom. I can't imagine my life any different than it is. I still remember the day i found out i was pregnant with Micah. It changed me forever. I loved him so much and didnt even know him. The joy and anticipation that came waiting for his arrival was great. He then decided to join our family a little earlier than we expected. But, that is his personality, he does what he wants when the time is right for him and only him. He is a sweet boy, carefree but cautious.

Then you have my Josiah. He's very different than Micah. He too joined our family a little earlier than expected and only does things when the time is right for him (my boys are a lot like their father) His favorites are his 'bankie' and food, yes food. At anytime you can say, 'do you want to eat?' he'll come running into the kitchen and fuss if you don't feed him fast enough. He loves to snuggle and needs just the right amount of sleep. Did i mention the tantrums. Oh yes i think they are payback for when i was a child. He likes to get his way and if he doesn't look out! Those tantrums are just one of the many things i love about this boy. He's amazing, they are amazing and I'm so lucky to be their mom.

With that all being said things are changing once again. Yes you guessed it we are adding another member to our family. Micah is super excited because he knows what it means to be a BIG brother (he gets to boss around the 'little' people.) Josiah on the other hand has no idea whats about to happen. We are super excited and can't wait to meet our new family member.

Morton Arboretum

Last week we went over to the arboretum with our friends. The boys had a great time. I was a little worried that there wouldn't be much for Josiah but boy was i wrong. He had just as much fun as Micah. I'm bummed i didn't get any pictures of Micah playing in the tadpole pools. I was just to busy watching him. (water makes me nervous) Micah Loved it!

Two weekends ago we spent the morning at the zoo. Josiah has started to LOVE the zoo just as much as Micah. He points out all the animals and tells us all about them :)

My sister bought a house a year ago and I've been promising her this wreath ever since. (its still sitting at my house because i can't find a box it fits in)
I made this 'M' for my good friend Erin. I saw something similar and thought of her when i saw it. She too just bought a house (4 months ago) and thought, she needs one :)

Here are just a few of the regular things we do around our house.....

Every Saturday morning the boys change the water in the fish tank. Everyone helps! (except mommy. That was part of the deal)

Micah even cleans his fish tanks. Look at that adorable smile.

And... We enjoy cupcakes. Lots of cupcakes!!!

We've been trying to stay cool and busy this summer and we're doing just that! Micah just finished his second week of summer camp at celebrations (his school) He was lucky to have 2 final weeks with his favorites Ms. Kelly and Ms. Kathy. His first week (June) was fun in the sun and that's just what they did. Micah had a blast with his PDO friends and some new friends too. (He was so cute he came home the one day and told me he had some new really tall friends in his class, these were really the college helpers) This past weeks theme was things with wings. Micah was so excited when his teachers gave him a bug collecting set. We went in the basement after nap and found LOTS of bugs. (i guess i better get on that cleaning!)

This week we also had our awesome friend Auntie Rebecca come over for a visit. I can't say enough great things about her, she's amazing, and boy did she love on my boys! She's one of a kind. Micah talked her into building zoos driving cars in some pretty tight places and enjoyed every moment of it. We even had a grilled cheese sandwich snack together. Oh and i can't forget what Micah told me after she left. "Mom, i sure loved her and did you see her hat? I liked it a lot, i wanted to tell her but i was nervous."

Oh and i can't forget my Josiah, he's really growing up. Hes walking and is into everything!!! He is also talking a lot his favorite thing to say is "whats that." We love him and just can't get enough of his spunky personality.

I wish i had pictures but i don't. I'm going to take some pictures of Micah with his bug box and his new writing activity. Well, its not really writing but its helping him work on his letters. Rebecca gave us the great idea to put shaving cream in a zip lock and let him practice writing on it. Micah Loves it, thanks Rebecca!!! I'm also going to take some pictures of Josiah walking around.

Oh and did i mention changes are coming!!!

Lightning Mcqueen - Cars 2

Yesterday, June 30th i took Micah to his first movie. It was a big day not only for him but me to. Micah loves Cars so when we heard that Cars 2 was coming out i knew i just had to take him. My friend Deborah and her son Jaden came down yesterday. Deborah stayed with Josiah and Jaden joined Micah and i. I'm proud to say that Micah made it through the whole movie. I think the M&M's helped :)

Other happenings Around our house

We've been busy this past month. We visited a family friends farm and before we left the boys needed to picture in front of the big tractor.

We played in our Giraffe pool (thanks Auntie Niloo) Even the neighbor kids loved it.

We went the Naperville memorial day parade. The boys were excited to see police, marching bands, and lots of cool cars.

We also visited the zoo. Here is a picture of my favorite boys!

Micah's Last day of PDO

This was a VERY sad day for me. My big boy is really a BIG boy now. He graduated from PDO and will officially be in preschool next year. Here are some pictures from his last day. I absolutely Loved his teachers. When you don't have family to help it's hard to leave your children with other people, but his teachers made me comfortable, i knew they really cared and loved him. They were truly a blessing to our family the past year and a half.

On May 4th my baby turned 1. I can't believe how much he has changed in that year. He is such a special guy. We had a special lunch out and then enjoyed cupcakes later in the day. Josiah really enjoyed his cupcake with purple frosting (Micah picked them out)

I didn't get any great pictures of the 'circus' (if you can call it that, to be honest it was more of a magic show) but i did get some of the boys. Easter Morning

Micah was super excited when he woke, he came running into our room to tell us that the bunny had visited our house. So, we all decided to go down and see what the bunny had brought. Micah was quickly side tracked by the eggs he found on the stairs. Micah and Josiah then went around the house looking for eggs. Here are a few pictures of our egg hunt followed by opening our baskets. Note Micah got a bird house as one of his gifts, this was the one thing Micah asked for from the bunny. Last year he got a build your own kit and he loved it so much he wanted to be sure he could do it again :) Pictures of that activity to come soon.

My sister Michelle sent the boys Easter baskets and an Egg Decorating kit. Micah was super excited and talked about decorating his eggs since it arrived in the mail. We enjoyed a family night yesterday decorating eggs. Micah was all Smiles.

This wasnt the end product. Micah added pretty stickers and used markers on them but, i haven't taken a picture yet. Super Cute, Thanks Auntie!

On Friday our friends Karyn and Evan invited us to their church for an Easter Egg Hunt. First we walked the steps of Jesus and then enjoyed an egg hunt. Micah was super excited to find eggs, i was holding Josiah so i only got eggs of the aftermath. Thanks Karyn, Evan and Aubrey for including us in on the fun.

Yes that's correct we went to our friend Griffins Eggstravaganza :) My friend Abbi loves to have a great party just like me, so as you can guess this was an adorable Easter party. The party included a bunny hop, cookie decorating and an egg hunt. I got some really cute pictures. I hope you enjoy just as much as i do.

On Sunday we enjoyed the beautiful weather and played outside. We ever enjoyed a walk with Rubix. Micah had a great time playing with the chalk and well, i did too :)

Spring Break...

We didn't do anything exciting for spring break but we did make it to the Shedd Aquarium (one of our favorite places) and had lots of fun at home. I remembered the camera but the batteries were dead, so i don't have any pictures to share of my boys. First Zoo Trip of the Year... Finally

Micah has been waiting for the perfect day and asking often if we could go to the zoo. Monday we had the perfect opportunity. We napped the boys a little early and headed out after they woke. By the time we got there we only had a couple hours, but it was just enough to see most of the animals. I think we have another animal fan in our family, Josiah. Watching Josiah watch the giraffes was awesome. Micah amazes me more and more each day. There isn't an animal that he doesn't know the name of where they come from and what they eat. He's such a smarty and he's all mine.

Around our house playing Farm and Zoo is serious business. Micah's animals are on a very strict schedule. They wake early in the morning and are fed, followed by a nap (that's the pictures you are viewing below) Then fed again followed by another rest. Thanks to Auntie Abbi Micah has some very yummy grass for his animals to feast on. (sometimes the animals are so sleepy after their big meal that they just fall asleep in their food bowls). Micah has the most incredible imagination, he is such a blessing :) I Love you my sweet Boy!

She made the news... She was my first and best friend here in Chicago. Deborah is an amazing 3rd grade teacher, the students are so lucky to have her. Her job is not an easy one, i've had the privilege to visit her classroom a couple times over the years. Once when i was in school my friend Rebecca and i went out to her classroom and did projects with her student. Another time i went on a field trip with her students. The experiences changed my view on Chicago public school teachers.

Cauliflower

Everyone who know our family know that we have a very picky boy on our hands. He's just getting worse and I'm getting desperate. Allwyn and i decided that if he dosent like what i make for dinner than he'll have to go to bed hungry. (This was very hard for me, thank goodness Allwyn was strong) Micah went to bed 2 nights in a row with no dinner then last night i made beef curry. He loves rice so i had high hopes that he would eat. With that being said it wasn't going to get him to eat his veggies. I thought for awhile (i even tried some stuff from Deceptively Delicious and nothing worked). I finally decided i would steam some cauliflower and chop it really fine and mix it with his rice. What do you know, he had no idea and ate every last bite. I felt like running outside and telling everyone that my child just ate a veggie!!! (i guess he'll never know until he can read or one of my readers tells him) As you can tell I'm super excited.
I have a long road ahead of me with my sons eating but its a battle i'm willing to fight :)
On the other hand, Josiah eats everything. I'm sure things might change as he gets older and can make more of his own choices so i think i'll be hiding veggies in his food too. He'll just get a double dose.

Sick Again...

My Big Little is Sick AGAIN... I feel like my boys have been sick so many times this year already :( It's so hard to watch them suffer. It's just Micah who's sick right now, I'm trying my best to keep them apart. This is a very hard task when Josiah wants to play everything his big brother is.
Micah missed school yesterday because he woke with a small fever and his nose was running. Yesterday was school pictures, i was so excited and LOVE to get the pictures back. I'm hoping he feels up to going to school tomorrow since the picture lady will be there tomorrow too. Maybe he'll go for just 1/2 the morning.

Micah has been to a handful of birthdays lately and has really enjoyed picking out presents for his friends. I take him to the store and we talk about what he thinks his friend might like and why. (Boy can this child talk) I'm beginning to think that hes not thinking of what his friends might like but what he would like for himself or what he might like to play with when he gos to their house for a play date. We went to a party over the weekend and there was a balloon artist. Micah was so excited because the women made him a giraffe.

I'm so excited that one of my favorite books is being made into a movie. Okay, so if you dont know of the book it's by Emily Giffin and she has i think five books out. Something Borrowed, Something Blue (they go together read them in that order) Baby proof, Love the One You're With and Heart of the Matter. I've read all of them except Heart of the Matter which I'm dying to finish :) I'm one of those who can't just read a chapter a night i have to read chapter after chapter late into the night.
With that all said the trailer has been released. I'm SO excited!!!

Josiah Update

Josiah went for his 9 month well check up last week and he weighted in at 17lb 3oz and 27 inches. He cut his first tooth on Saturday the 11th of Feb and said Mama for the first time on the 10th. It's been a big month for firsts already. I think crawling is just around the corner, I'm sure Micah would like him to hold off on that one. I'll keep you updated.

This is what happens when your 9 month old grabs your glasses off your face and you don't react fast enough. So, Josiah managed to snap my glasses in 2. I have new ones on order but in the mean time i'm wearing my old ones from about 6+ years ago. When Micah saw them he said, 'Mommy do you think those look good?' Then he quickly responded by saying, 'I dont like those.' he reminds me every time he sees me in them. Because of Micah's opinion i won't be posting a picture of me wearing them :)

Today was Micah's Valentines party. Everything was super cute and i think the kids all enjoyed themselves. Our morning started with a craft (i think the boys could have done without this activity) Then we had lunch followed by cookie decorating. Cookie decorating was a big hit or licking the frosting covered Popsicle sticks :)
I feel so blessed to have these moms and their children in our lives i just don't know what i would do without them. They are all amazing moms! It's great to have have women who have a strong faith to mother with. Thank you to each and every one of you! Love You, XOXO

So, I picked Micah up from school today and like always we rushed to the bathroom for one last try before our drive home. When we came out i was putting his coat on and i heard his teacher say, 'Oh, Mary Beth i have to talk to you.' I thought oh no what happened. She then told me that Micah informed her during free play today that some children were being naughty, then he asked her why they were so naughty. Then he told her that he can't play with naughty children. After turning 5 shades of red i told her i was sorry. She said, 'oh no hes such a good boy, hes never naughty.' I guess hes heard me say to many times not to make the same choice as 'that child' or to make the right choice and not to be naughty. Only my child would actually tell his teacher. Oh My!

Micah's 1st Sleepover

Last night Micah had his first sleepover with his cousins Caleb and Shayna. Micah was so excited to have his cousins stay the night at his house. He talked about it for days before they arrived. When they arrived last night he couldn't stop smiling. He loved showing them all his toys and projects. We colored, played play doh, stamped and not to forget the karate.
I decided to let the kids stay up late in hopes that they would be so tired they wouldn't make trouble. Well, 9 rolled around very quickly and they were still full of energy. We sat down for a quiet game and headed up for bed. Micah was trilled that his cousins were sleeping on his bedroom floor. And wouldn't you know the child who caused the most trouble was my son. He must have gotten up 10 times between bathroom breaks and drinks. (He was so excited) Finally around 10:30 i think that everyone fell asleep.
The kids were all up early and each had their own version of the nights events. We had chocolate chips muffins and blueberries for breakfast and got ready for the morning. Micah and Shayna have a music class on Monday mornings, so Caleb and Josiah came along for the ride. All and all it was a blast. Micah's already talking about his next sleepover.
Sadly, i didn't take a single picture, we'll just have to each remember our own version of the events :)

Back to School We Go

Today was Micah's first day back to school since Christmas break. I was really worried about how it would go since hes potty training. Tuesday morning after i drop Micah off Josiah and i head over to bible study, so i worried the whole time about how it was going. And, I'm so excited to announce that Micah did it, he used the potty twice at school and stayed dry in between. He was so excited to show me the big potty at school. We were really late to school today because we had to use the potty before we left and the weather was bad. Micah did so good!!! I'm so proud of him. He's really becoming a big boy, how i love him :)
I can hear him up in his room right now (he should be napping) he's so excited because when he wakes he gets to go help shovel the driveway. Hopefully I'll have pictures to post of him using his new shovel later.

Friday with Friends

Last Friday afternoon after nap i packed the boys up to go visit our friends Deborah and Jaden. We had a great time like we always do. We had a great dinner at a local Indian restaurant then went back to their house to play. Micah had a great time with Jaden, he really enjoys playing with him. Jaden is amazing with both the boys, I'm so thankful for their friendship.

~side note, we're still working on potty training and i think we still have some days ahead of us. Micah's trying very hard to remember to tell us when he has to use the potty. I know he'll get it. I'm looking forward to that day :)

Even though this week has been crazy full of potty training we didn't forget Katie's Birthday. Micah and i went out early in the morning and got Katie cupcakes and flowers. Micah was very excited because he got to pick out both. Here are some pictures of us celebrating Katie's Birthday.

I must have had the camera on the wrong setting because almost none of the pictures turned out but she got some cute stuff. A new coat which she needed for those long walks to class, a new Vera Bradly bag, a cover for her goose down blanket and a flip camera. She also got some new knitting stuff which she loves since she just learned to knit. (thanks Michelle) One of her friends from home even sent her a gift. (as you can see Micah was more than willing to help open the gifts).

If Someone Had Only Told Me...

If someone had only told my how hard it would be to potty train a 3 year old! I started trying to train Micah while i was pregnant and things were going well but with that said he never fully took to it and i never pushed because i knew with a baby coming he would likely regress. Which was true, once Josiah was born he wanted nothing to do with the potty. Summer came and went Micah started school and we still weren't potty trained. I decided that after Christmas i would just go for it. Thats just what i did. I told Micah that Santa took all the extra diapers and left us just enough to get through Christmas day. I then started Sunday morning by putting big boy underpants on him. Well it's been a long week, i haven't left the house (well one trip to target because he filled his sticker chart and wanted a sting ray for his zoo) I've been up to my eyeballs in potty training. Today was day 6 and i still think we have a few more to go until we really get it down. But, when we made that trip to target (it was just Micah and i) Micah was such a bog boy he wore big boy underpants and kept them dry!!! He came home and used the potty and was good to go.
I can't believe my baby boy isn't really a baby anymore. Sometimes i cant believe this big boy is that same tiny 4lb baby boy. Time really flies.
Here are just a few of the cute things he's said lately:
Micah: Mommy did my Dino's grow in your tummy?
Mommy: Nope
Micah: Where did we get them?
Mommy: Our friend Sarah gave you one and the other one came from Target.

The other night i went into Micahs room because he was playing around when he should have been sleeping and he said, "Mommy can we pray?" I said, "Sure" He then said, "Dear God, Thank you for my mommy, Please take care of her."
It was the sweetest most beautiful prayer I've heard.
I feel so blessed that God gave him to us.

Christmas Day 2010

We celebrated Christmas at our home this year. I did most of the cooking and everything turned our great! Once everyone arrived and got settled we opened presents, then enjoyed a late lunch. Today was a full day with lots of activity around the house. Everyone is dressed in their family pajamas and the littles are tucked in their beds dreaming of Santa Clause. Here are a few of the highlights from our Christmas Eve.

Fun with Friends

Micah had his friend Charlie over to bake cookies. The boys had a blast rolling out the dough and using cookie cutters for the first time (beside playdoh). They then saw me with the flour and well
they had fun sprinkling it all over the counter and cookie dough! After a few sneezes and smelling the cookie dough lets just say even 350 degrees couldn't kill those germs. The boys each decorated a cookie and enjoyed it after dinner but the rest they're saving for Santa.

Gift Mart 2010

On Saturday Katie and i had the joy of serving at the gift mart in Aurora at Bardwell Elementary. It was such an amazing experience. There were over 9500 toys!!! The Orchard Community joined forces with Community 4:12 to serve the Aurora area. How it works is we invite our community to donate toys. The toys are then taken to two local schools where they are sold for $2 each. The money collected is then given back to the schools. The families are so happy to have the opportunity to purchase toys that they normally would not have the means to.
Katie and i served on the gift wrap team. We were set up in a classroom and wrapped the families gifts after they shopped. There was a small language barrier but the joy of the season got us through that. One women shared that these gifts were the first gifts her children were receiving. What a blessing to be part of it.
I wish i would have brought my camera to capture some of the event but i did manage to snag a few pictures from our churches facebook page.

Shedd Aquarium

We spent Wednesday afternoon at the Shedd Aquarium. It was so nice. Wasn't busy i think most kids were still in school. Micah and Josiah had a blast looking at all the sea animals. They also enjoyed the special holiday show.

Wonderful Sunday at Home

Today was a great day at home. The boys are a little under the water and it's really cold outside so we stayed in. We started early playing zoo and building cages, followed by our favorite Chipotle for lunch. After a nap we got out our 'little' tree for Micah to decorate and put in his room. He made sure that i knew my job was to get the tree out and it was his and his alone to decorate the tree. We set the tree up and decided it was missing something so we made a froot loop chain. Micah had a lot of fun. The tree turned out so cute, ill post pictures later. We finished with some delicious chicken curry. Then Micah helped me finish all my Christmas cards he was the stamper. So when you get your card in the mail, all those beautiful stamps are from Micah with Love.
I also spent this weekend making baby food. Pears, peaches and green beans tomorrow i'll finish with apples, mango and spaghetti squash, Yum!

Our Christmas Card

Well, once again we have been working on our Family Christmas Card. I wish i could say that we took some really cute family pictures with everyone looking at the camera and smiling but that's not the case. Allwyn set up the camera/timer and we attempted to take a photo to send out to our friends and family. Yes, we waited to the last minute (in my defense i wanted an updated picture of the boys because they are growing and changing so much so fast) but with that said this is what we came up with.

Yes you might have noticed Micah had a clothing change, he hated the sweater i had picked out for him. He went up to his room and picked out his favorite rhinoceros shirt. The picture we ended up going with was one with him in his rhinoceros shirt :( This made me sad but at this point I'm just glad we have a picture to put on our card. With that said, Have a very Merry Christmas from our family to yours!
I did get these of my little cutie, i couldn't get Micah to join him.
