Noah's ER visit and Stay

On Monday, February 20th Noah took a visit to the ER and ended up staying for 3 nights. It all started during the day on Monday when Noah was refusing to nurse and just wanted to sleep. I tried multiple times to nurse him and he refused. Finally around 7pm i got him to nurse for 15-20 minutes and started to feel better. Minutes later he threw everything up that he had just eaten. After that happened we put the boys to bed and Allwyn decided to go to the store. Just after he left Noah began to throw up again but this time it wasn't milk. I knew something wasn't right so i called the doctor on call and she said to get Noah to an ER. I tried calling Allwyn and i couldn't get a hold on him. I must have called him over 20 times before he finally answered his phone. I told him what happened and he said he was on his way and to see if our sitter could come over. I have to take a moment and Thank Carolyn our sitter (shes so much more than that) My boys love her and i don't know what we would do without her. She's amazing! Carolyn arrived in 10 minutes and Allwyn and i headed out to Rush-Copley ER (our pediatrician is out of there) When we arrived the waiting room was full and people were getting sick everywhere. They then told me the wait was over 2 hours. I looked at Allwyn and said i can't do this, he said lets go to Edwards (which was closer to home) The car ride seemed long and i was scared because little Noah's soft spot was sunk in and he just wasn't acting right. When we arrived we found out they have a children's ER and they took us right away. They started with a urine test and blood work. They started an IV to get him re hydrated. I couldn't help but cry the whole time. I was in shock this was all happening. The doctor then came in and told us they thought he had a UTI but that this was not common in little boys and wanted to do more tests to find out why and what was going on. The doctor also discussed the possibility that the infection could get into his blood stream which could cause a whole body infection and they we wouldn't know for 48 hours until the blood cultures came back. They then admitted him and took us up to a room. By this time it was after 12 am. I was able to start nursing him again. We then settled in and Allwyn went home to be with the big boys. The next morning they took Noah for an ultrasound of his Kidneys. They found that he has water in the Kidneys. They have to wait until his current infection is cleared up before they can look closer at that. After 3 nights in the hospital they found that his blood was negative for infection and that his urine tests were coming back cleaner. We see our pediatrician tomorrow and hopefully will have a plan to address the water in the kidneys.
I just want to thank all our friends and family for their love support and prayers for our sweet Noah. He's doing a lot better now.
XOXO
