Day 1: We went down to the Naperville river walk and played at the park and rode bikes and scooters along the river and then headed to the rainforest cafe for lunch. We were joined by our neighbor Lauren, she's such a sweet girl and we feel so lucky to have her and her family as a part of our lives.
Micah managed to get stuck in this old baby toy. When the kids called me down to the basement to help him i thought they were joking but they weren't. He was really stuck, so after taking a picture for future embarrassment i helped him get out.
Day 2: We spend day 2 at the Shedd Aquarium. The boys just love the Shedd and never get tired of wandering around and seeing at that it has to offer. We also enjoyed lunch at my favorite the Pasta Bowl. On our way home i noticed a noise i hadn't heard before when breaking so we made a quick trip over to the dealer. Turns out i needed new breaks.... So the boys and i hung out at the mall while they fixed the breaks on the van. They enjoyed a train ride, the carousel and pretzels.
Midweek i did this... After a long run i through my shirt in the wash with the garage door opener still in the pocket but wouldn't you know it still worked even after a trip through the washer and dryer :)
Day 3: We loaded the mini van and headed to the zoo. It was a beautiful day to be outside. Oh and finally the girls out numbered the boys in the car.
Day 4: I loaded the van and the boys for our trip to Michigan. We were headed to Visit my sister and her husband in Royal Oak. The drive is about 5 hours and i usually only have to stop once. I know i know, we totally over packed.
When we arrived we started working on this adorable cake auntie had planned for the boys to make.
We took a trip down memory lane with these scissors. Michelle had pulled them out for the boys to use and i felt like i was a kid again. But of course mine were a bluish purple and white.
Day 5: We settled in and made a grocery run followed by lunch with
Auntie at the boys favorite Chipotle. Our lunch was a tad interesting
but also served as a lesson for Micah. I ordered him his usual bowl but
was disappointed saying that they hadn't given him enough. I told him
if he finished what he had i would get him more. Well, he finished... i
told him he needed to wait in line and I'd meet him up at the counter
when it was his turn. There was a young man in front of him, when he
went to pay his card snapped in two. I told the young man that his
lunch was on me, Micah was somewhat annoyed that i had done this. I
tried to explain that sometimes we go out of our way to help others even
if we don't know them. Well while Micah was finishing his lunch the
manager came out with a bag full of chips a guacamole to thank me.
That's when Micah finally realized that when you help others people
appreciate your kindness and will return the favor. We then finished out evening with dinner at rainforest cafe, where i once again worked my magic and got us seated even though their wasn't a reservation available for another 2 hours. It wasn't really magic but kindness :)
Day 6: We woke very early and headed over to the Detroit Zoo for bunnyville. The boys were very excited to feed the giraffes and hunt for eggs. Well, to their disappointment neither happened but they did love all the animals that they did see. The giraffe feeding was cancelled because of the cold weather and the egg hung wasn't really a hunt. There were 100 golden eggs hidden around the zoo and if you found one you got a prize. But the boys did enjoy bunny games and Micah even got his face painted like a bunny.
The boys each got to choose something from the gift shop. As you see below the two older boys choose new animals and Noah choose a wooden train (not pictured) The boys also wore their Michigan State shirts to support uncle Adams team.
Some of us slept better than others. The one who didn't sleep well was me :( I ended up on the wood floor next to Jo most of the one night and was in and out of bed the other nights due to calls from Jo
Day7: Happy Easter. The boys enjoyed finding eggs that were hid all over auntie and uncles house before heading over to my grandfathers for a brunch. The boys did a great job!
Day 8: We headed home.
The Wednesday before spring break we were invited by friends to a pre screening of 'Home' It was a really cute movie and i totally suggest seeing it.
Last but not least over the weekend i found out that I'm not the only Moon girl who has an issue with car washes. I guess i share this phobia with my big sister.
